Debbie was born in 1964, a self-taught artist, primarily working in acrylics. She constantly pushes her boundaries, adding layer upon layer of paint and glazes to encapsulate the atmosphere of the moment in time. She believes in the therapeutic and rejuvenation qualities of the Cornish coastline and although she works mainly from her studio in rural Gloucestershire, she also paints in her spiritual Cornish home as often as she can. She draws her inspiration from the sound of the crashing waves, the pungent perfume of the washed up seaweed, the constantly changing and sometimes, dramatic weather and cloud formation around her. Her paintings capture the peace, harmony and tranquillity of the coastline, but also pay due reverence to the power that a small change in climate can unleash upon the land and sea. She is a descendant of William Morris textile designer, artist, author and poet.
