Harvey Rothschild

Harvey has spent all his working life in the applied creative arts. Following a meteoric career as a fashion designer where he worked for many of the world’s leading fashion brands, he established his own label and won many awards for his work, before returning to his boyhood passion, fine art. He enrolled at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London where he spent a year honing his drawing and painting skills. A second year was spent at the New York Studio School where he further developed his drawing skills and began exploring contemporary landscape painting. He returned to South Africa in 2002 and began painting full-time. Attracted by its natural beauty, Harvey moved to the Knysna area in 2005 with the intention of setting up a school of painting which he did to great success. He now divides his time between South Africa and England where his beautiful and sensitive landscapes express his unique style whilst paying homage to the impressionists with their ‘Cezanne-like’ quality.
