Eric finds it important to have recent work around him for both reference and continuity. His paintings are interior studies of activities, especially of musicians. He is also interested in the nude figure. His interiors are worked in oils or acrylics. The harbour and seascapes are scenes with which he is familiar and enjoys painting, having worked as fisherman, Harbour Master and Coxwain of St Ives Lifeboat. His childhood interest in art led him to combine earning a living and painting when he was able. In 1987 he studied at St Ives School of Painting and his work finally took off in 1989 with his first one-man exhibition in London. He now paints full-time. Eric Ward was born in 1945 in St Ives.
